Get Involved
Members of Congress are hungry for constituent input, especially from constituents who are viewed as trusted sources of information. That’s where you come in. Science plays a critical role in informing policy, but it’s not always obvious how scientists can best engage with policymakers. Below are the opportunities that the ASA, CSSA, and SSSA Science Policy offers to Society members to help them engage in advocacy.
Congressional Visits Day
- In-person advocacy from constituents is the most effective and impactful form of advocacy.
- Congressional Visits Day is an annual event that brings nearly 70 ASA, CSSA, and SSSA members to Washington D.C. to meet with their Members of Congress and advocate for agricultural research funding.
Advocacy Toolkit
- We know many ASA, CSSA, and SSSA members want to be more involved in advocacy, but just don’t know where to begin.
- The Advocacy Toolkit provides the tools and opportunities for constituents like you to effectively engage with your Members of Congress.
