Slide 7-5. Eutrudox. Humic Latosol. Location: Island of Kauai, Hawaii. Parent Material: Residium or alluvium from basic igneous rocks. Horizons and Depths: Ap 0-46 cm (0-18"); Bo1 46-122 cm (18-48"); Bo2 122-255 cm+ (48-100"+). Note exfoliation of stone near the four-foot mark, and the remnants of an exfoliated crust just below it. The scale is in feet (30 cm).
