Slide 5-3. Vitric Melanudand. Ando Soil. Location: Japan. Parent Material: Volcanic Ash. Horizons and Depths: A 0-30 cm* (0-12")*; Bw 30-75 cm* (12-30")*; 2C1 75-95 cm* (30-37")*; 3C2 95-110 cm* (37-43")*. Stratification of the volcanic ash in the C horizon is evident. There may be other discontinuities in the solum and between it and the C horizon. *Approximate depths.
