Slide 5-5. Pergelic Cryaquept. Tundra Soil. Location: Coastal tundra of northern Alaska. Parent Material: Coastal Plain sediments. Horizons and Depths: A 0-30 cm (0-12"); Oi 30-38 cm (12-15"); Cf 38 cm+ (15"+). Seasonal thawing extends to about 38 cm (15"); the organic matter-rich soil below that is permanently frozen.
