Description
Slide 2-5. Typic Salorthid. Solonchak. Location: Cetral Nevada. Parent Material: Alluvium from ignimbrites, limestone, and quartzite. Horizons and Depths: Az 0-8 cm (0-3"); Bz 8-13 cm (3-5"); Bqz 13-51 cm (5-20"); 2C1 51-89 cm (20-35"); 3C2 89-152 cm+ (35-60"+). The Bqz horizon is weakly cemented with silica. These highly saline soils inhibit growth of most plants.
