Officers Elected to Fill Scientific Society Boards

The American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America announce new society presidents and officers for the upcoming year

MADISON, WI, MAY 5, 2008 -- The American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America announce the results of their annual officer elections. All newly elected officers assume their positions January 1, 2009.

2009 American Society of Agronomy President-Elect
Francis J. Pierce, Washington State University, Prosser, WA is elected President-Elect of the American Society of Agronomy. He has been an ASA and SSSA member for 31 years and has served as Chair-Elect, Chair, and Past Chair of the Soil & Water Management & Conservation Division and been on the SSSA Board of Directors.

2009 Crop Science Society of America President-Elect
Joseph G. Lauer, University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI is elected President-Elect of the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA). He has served as Associate Editor of Agronomy Journal and on the Editorial Board of Crop Management Today. Lauer has been Secretary-Treasurer, Chair-Elect, and Chair of the North Central Regional Branch of ASA.

2009 Soil Science Society of America President-Elect
Nicholas B. Comerford, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL is elected President-Elect of the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA). He has been an active SSSA member for 30 years and has served as Chair and SSSA Board Representative of the Forest, Range, and Wildland Soils Division. Comerford was elected a SSSA Fellow in 2001.
